CEREC/CAD/CAM

The term CEREC stands for Chairside Economical Restoration of Esthetic Ceramics. This is a revolutionary piece of technology that uses CAD/CAM (computer-aided design and computer-aided manufacturing) to create dental restorations.

The CEREC system helps us fix unsightly or damaged or teeth. Whether you want a more radiant smile or your teeth needs to be repaired, CEREC can assist. CEREC enables us to make top-quality porcelain crowns, veneers inlays and onlays quickly and bond them onto a tooth in a single appointment.

HOW DOES IT WORK?

We take a photograph or digital impression of the prepared tooth using an infrared camera. This impression is sent to a computer where it appears as a 3D model. We design the restorations on this digital model and send the information to the milling unit. The milling unit takes up to twenty minutes to make the restoration, which is then bonded onto the tooth on the same day.

BENEFITS OF CEREC

  • More aesthetically pleasing – porcelain is far more natural-looking than composite restorations
  • Superior durability- CEREC restorations last much longer than composite restorations
  • Restorations can be done in a single-visit – eliminating the need for multiple appointments and temporary fillings
  • It conserves healthy tooth structure – large CEREC® restorations are an ideal alternative to potentially short-lived composite fillings or full-coverage crowns, which usually result in the removal of greater amounts of natural healthy tooth structure.
